A00057CX2 Plockton from Carn an Duine

Viewed from the west above "Carn an Duine hill" this photograph captures the coastal village of Plockton which lies on the sheltered shores of Loch Carron. It is a popular village for tourists with a local rail station which is serviced by links between Inverness and the Kyle of Lochalsh. It was partly due to this rail link, built during the late 19th century, that helped Plockton recover from a collapsed Herring fishing industry. The village then was known as the "village of the poor". Thankfully these days the village lives on and attracts many people to its idyllic setting.
