Location, the Orkney Islands of northern Scotland. All the land captured in this picture belong to the Orkney archipelago. The picture was taken above South Ronaldsay with the islands of Flotta and Hoy along the top of the picture. Archaeological sites on Orkney are well preserved. Located by the circular bay in the center of the picture called "Dam of Hoxa" lies a Broch said to be the burial place of Thorfinn Turf-Einarsson (Thorfinn Skullsplitter) a 10th century Norse Earl.
