A00132C Cullipool on Luing

Cullipool is a small shore settlement on the "Slate Island" of Luing. It is the largest village on Luing and slate quarrying was the villages occupation until it finally withered away by the 1960's. The large holes flanking both sides of Cullipool in the picture are the remnants of two quarries now filled with water and also the nearby hill sides bare scars of past slate production. The shores and views from the hills are stunning.
