Dusted in snow the Cuillin Hills (top) also known as the Black Cuillin are primarily composed of black igneous rock. The snow tinted peaks are rugged and sharp with surrounding steep gullies. The highest Cuillin peak is "Sgurr Alasdair" at 3258ft. This mountainous area is located on the south west coast of Skye. The slopes of the Cuillin slip into the sea loch of Loch Scavaig (middle) and to the right stands Sgurr na Stri hill above Camasunary beach (middle right). Viewed looking west from above Strathaird peninsula to South Uist in the top left of the picture.
