A00021B Island of Kerrera

The Island of Kerrera is in the "Inner Hebrides" group of islands. This is the north end of Kerrera with the "Sound of Kerrera" running up the left side of the picture, between the island (right) and the Scottish mainland (top left). In 1249 the Scottish King Alexander II assembled an invasion fleet at Oban Bay (left of the frame). During his preparations for an attack on the Vikings occupancy of the western islands the King took unwell and died on Kerrera aged 50.
