A00095A Rabbit Islands and Tongue Bay

Location, the far northern coastline of mainland Scotland. The group of islands in the picture, called the "Rabbit Islands" lie in Tongue Bay. These are low lying sandstone islands which are uninhabited but for a colony of rabbits. In the past these islands took the Gaelic meaning of "Islands of Strangers", said to have been periodically visited by Danes. In the middle right of the picture lies the settlements of Skinnet and Midtown which are just a short distance from the beach of Talmine Bay and its stunning sea views. Its remoteness makes a journey worth the while.
