A00542E Lundin Links and Lower Largo village coastline Fife

The settlements of Lundin Links and Lower Largo lie along the north banks of the Firth of Forth. Both settlements are merged but their beginnings are very different, Lundin Links being the youngest and nearest within the picture was laid down to accommodate for a revolution in tourism with the arrival of steam ships and steam trains. The destination was the ancient picturesque village of Lower Largo which became so popular there was a need to offer more modern facilities during the 19th century. Also, the transport links brought an influx of wealthy residents able to holiday and retire in the perfect location. In 1869 the first of two golf courses opened at Lundin Links which was on a rise in its popularity.
