aerial pictures of Scotland west coast Islands
Located on the west coast of Scotland. The small island of Gigha (middle right) lies about 2 miles west of the Kintyre peninsula (bottom) from Rhunahaorine Point. The island can be reached by ferry from Tayinlone on the mainland by crossing the Sound of Gigha. In earlier history the island came under Norse control which was in close proximity to the Norse strongholds of Islay (top right) several miles west of Gigha. The island is the ancestral home of the Clan MacNeill. Viewed looking west from Kintyre to Gigha and Islay.
