A00136C Skye from Isle of Ornsay

Location, the southern coastline of the Isle of Skye. This area is called Sleat and the land is known as the "Garden of Skye". The small island is Isle Ornsay and adjacent (left) lies Isleornsay village. Isleornsay was once the ferry terminus for Sleat to the mainland. In the days of the dreadful Highland Clearances this was also the departure point for many inhabitants bound for Nova Scotia. The Cuillin Hills (top) lie northwest of the Sleat peninsula and are a spectacular backdrop on a clear day. Viewed looking northwest to the Cuillin Hills (top).
