A00336A South Kerrera by Oban

To the west of Oban lies the Island of Kerrera (bottom and right). This part of its coastline lies at the southern end of the island were a Castle stands. Gylen Castle was constructed by the Clan MacDougall in 1582 but later burned by the Covenanters in 1647 during the "Wars of the Three Kingdoms".
