A00502E Pitlochry fish ladder - Settlements, infrastructure and attractions
The River Tummel dam was built at Pitlochry by 1950 as a source supply of water for its integral hydroelectric power station. To allow migrating salmon passage, a fish ladder was included in the power stations design which lies along the south bank of the Tummel. The dam created a man made loch upstream known as Faskally. Above the power station is the main A9 trunk road which connects Perth city in the south to Inverness city in the north.
