A00203AX2 Todhead Point Lighthouse

Photographed on an early January morning sunrise as the rising light shaves the fields in warm sunlight and long deep black shadows keep the landscape temporarily hidden and cold. A lighthouse was constructed as a way point near the edge of this rocky coastline. Todhead Point lies about 6 miles south of Stonehaven on the east coast of Scotland. The lighthouse came into operation in 1897 with its light fueled by paraffin then in 1973 it was electrified and finally the installation was retired from service in the year 2007.
