A00689E Cove Haven at Seaton Cliffs

"Cove Haven" lies along the Seaton Cliffs that run north east from Arboath to the coastal village of Auchmithie on the east coast of Scotland. Facing the cove is a cave carved out of sandstone in the middle of the picture with two shingle beaches on either side, it is the location of a promontory fort know as Maiden Castle. In the bottom of the picture is Seals Cave set between vertical red cliff formations and a nearby sea stack called The Deils Heid. It is said that in years gone by men were lowered into Seals Cave by rope to kill seals for food. A coastal foot path navigates way round the coastline from Arbroath and Auchmithie. Viewed looking north west across the fields of soft fruit growers at East Seaton farm.
