A00689K Seaton Cliffs and Gaylet Pot blow hole

aerial pictures of Scotland east coast coastline at Gaylet Pot
Location, Seaton sea cliffs northeast of Arbroath on the east coast of Scotland. This picture was taken 2 miles northeast of Arbroath capturing the Seaton cliff coastline. The scenery is impressive with shingle beaches, cliff lines having deep cut gullies, caves, rocky outcrops and sea stacks, their shaping attributed to the sea erosion on soft sandstone. In almost the middle of the picture in a field is Gaylet Pot blow hole which is a naturally made cavern. From a sea cave, through time weaker strata was eroded inland to a point where the ceiling collapsed and a hole appeared. Many views can be enjoyed using the coastal path from Auchmithie village (top of the frame) which weaves its way southwest along the cliffs to the Town of Arbroath.
Viewed looking north.
