A00709AX2 Scurdie Ness by Montrose

Scurdie Ness lies southeast of Montrose and a little more than one mile east from Ferryden on the east coast of Scotland. It has a rugged coastline formed of volcanic rock from where it gets its name "Scurdie". At the end of this headland stands Scurdie Ness lighthouse commissioned in 1870 to guide ships in and out of Ferryden harbour. In the picture above the lighthouse is Montrose Bay and beach extending north from the Town of Montrose in the left of the picture. Viewed looking north from above Scurdie Ness, sometimes called Montroseness.
