aerial pictures of Scotland west coast coastline by Loch Long
Strone Point sits between the Holy Loch (left) and Loch Long (right). The peninsula juts out with the appearance of a nose, and Strone in Gaelic means "nose". Both lochs either side of Strone Point have access to the Firth of Clyde. The Holy Loch supported US navy submarine facilities during the Cold War with the Soviet Union. Today, Loch Long has facilities that support UK submarines with ICBM capabilities.
