A00097CX2 Ben Hutig from Whiten Head

This coastline is located in the far north of mainland Scotland. It lies about 30 miles west of the Pentland Firth between Loch Eriboll and Tongue Bay. Dramatic sea cliffs, natural sea stacks, caves and arches form much of its character. The sea cliffs rise onto a boggy table where Ben Hutig in the top right of the picture lies. During WWII Ben Hutig was the site of a lonely RAF bomber crash during a snowstorm. The crew of the 612 Sqn Whitley bomber based at Wick were rescued and taken to nearby crofts in March 1943.
